Pietro de Sanctis (Jr.), 1.st son of Domenico and Teresa Cudone was a Doctor. He was born in Castelgrande, Italy on January 26, 1852. In 1875 at the age of 24 he graduated as a doctor from the University of Naples,Campania, Italy. He remained at the University to further his training as a doctor. He returned to his home town, Castelgrande as a country doctor. He did not stay long there and moved to Rapone. In 1880 he married Rosa Pinto who was 19 and from a prominent family in Rapone. From Rapone he moved to Atella again as a country doctor. After a few years he moved back to his home town, Castelgrande where his parents, his brother Potito and his uncles priests lived. In 1894 at the age of of 42, he came to the United States, leaving his wife Rose and his family of seven children, sponsered by Dr. John Verdi who lived in New Haven Connecticut. His family came to USA in 1896.

In Castelgrande I've always looked on the wall at a great photo of Pietro de Sanctis. There were also some old pictures of his family and some letters and other documents. In 1973 came to Italy a grand-daughter of Pietro, Rose McKew: being alive my uncle Alfonso, staying in Castelgrande, it was easy for her to get a connection. She moved by an organized trip to Italy, and left her group for three days. She arrived from Rome and I (16 y.o.) went with my father Francesco and my mother to the rail station to meet her. She remained with us one day and the day after we went together to Castelgrande where she knew uncle Alfonso and aunt Ada. Then she reconnected to her American group in Pompei. After some years of contact by mail, we lost her.

After almost 25 years, being the family palace in Castelgrande rebuilt after the earthquake of Nov. 1980 (in the meantime all the previous generation had disappeared), I felt the need to know if there was somebody in the other side of the world.

I've been searching through Internet for more than 2 years, till one day, in the last minute before turning off my computer, I had a sensation of incredulity, while a shiver passed through my body: I'd found somebody who was looking for news about Dr. Peter DeSanctis. It was June 13, 2001. Peter Masi M.D. had written it two years before. The page is: http://www.ancestry.com/profile/ResearchProfile.asp?memberid=636081&surname=DeSanctis

A connection from Italy to the States was released!
