Premessa metodologica
L’obiettivo primario di un nostro corso di lingua italiana è quello di dotare soggetti stranieri, attraverso metodi didattici sperimentati, standard di programmi, larga base di strutture a disposizione, di una competenza linguistica funzionale all’inserimento socio-culturale.
Esso viene articolato su due livelli: elementare e avanzato, in riferimento alla preparazione di base individuale e alle esigenze cognitive dei discenti.
Nel corso elementare si utilizzano e riproducono, attraverso diversi strumenti didattici, le strutture di base della lingua italiana, mirate soprattutto all’acquisizione della competenza comunicativa e al trasferimento di elementi caratterizzanti della cultura.
L’argomento civiltà è anch’esso strutturato in unità di apprendimento che consentono ai discenti di assimilare gli elementi essenziali attraverso una serie di operazioni didattiche.
Per quanto concerne il corso avanzato, l’obiettivo è di pervenire ad un livello più complesso di “ability” che implica il riconoscimento del valore comunicativo degli elementi linguistici.
Il target da conseguire è rendere i discenti capaci di interagire, e cioè l’uso diretto, personale e autonomo di categorie e funzioni legate alla comunicazione reale.

Struttura dei corsi
a) ADULTI: Organizzazione di corsi permanenti di lingua italiana per adulti stranieri. I corsi saranno organizzati tenendo conto del livello di competenza linguistica dei richiedenti e delle loro necessità orarie, compatibili con i turni di lavoro. Si prevedono corsi della durata di 4 mesi con due lezioni settimanali di 1 ora e mezzo ciascuna.
b) RAGAZZI: Organizzazione di corsi di lingua italiana per bambini e ragazzi per i quali è stata richiesta l’iscrizione nelle scuole dell’obbligo.
In presenza di alunni stranieri iscritti a scuola e che non hanno una conoscenza della lingua da permettere un’iniziale e significativo inserimento, riteniamo opportuno organizzare corsi intensivi di lingua italiana (full immersion) per gruppi di 4/6 ragazzi, con una durata di 6 ore al giorno per 5 gg alla settimana, per un totale di 240 ore.
Contemporaneamente verranno presi i contatti con gli insegnanti delle classi in cui i ragazzi saranno inseriti, per progettare congiuntamente le modalità di inserimento, considerare l’esigenza di proseguire con il sostegno linguistico e valutare l’opportunità di interventi interculturali rivolti all’intero gruppo classe, o altre eventuali iniziative.

Struttura del gruppo di lavoro.
All’interno della “Casa delle Culture” si costituisce uno specifico “Gruppo di ricerca e progettazione per le attività linguistiche”. Il gruppo è formato da insegnanti di lingua  e da operatori con esperienza in attività educative, sociali e interculturali. Gli insegnanti hanno esperienza di insegnamento della lingua italiana a stranieri, si occuperanno della conduzione dei corsi  e saranno coadiuvati dagli altri operatori per tutte le attività progettuali, integrative all’insegnamento linguistico e all’inserimento sociale e scolastico.
Il “gruppo” darà un’importanza particolare alla sperimentazione e progettazione e promuoverà tutte le forme utili di scambio e collaborazione con le scuole, le associazioni e le istituzioni locali e organizzerà corsi di formazione e seminari di aggiornamento continuo per gli operatori impegnati nelle attività di sostegno linguistico.

Project “Italian language permanent school for adults and children coming from other countries.

Preliminary methodological remarks
The chief aim of our Italian language course is that to give foreigners, through experienced teaching methods, standard programmes and wide basis of structures, a linguistic  ability useful to their inclusion in the society.
The course is organized into two levels: Elementary and Advanced (according to the learners individual grounding and their cognitive demands).
In the elementary course, trough different teaching instruments, are used and repeated the basic structures of the Italian language aiming, above all, at the acquisition of the ability in the speech  and  at the learning of the typical elements of the culture.
The subject “civilization”,too, is organized into learning units which permit the learners to assimilate the fundamental elements through a series of teaching actions.
As regards the advanced course, the aim is at coming to a more complex level of “ability” which means to know the communicative value of the linguistic elements.
The target to reach is that the learners can be able to interact, that is to say, they must have the direct, personal, free use of categories and functions related to the real speech.

Courses  structures.
A - Adults. Organization of permanent Italian language courses for foreign adults. The courses will be organized considering the level of linguistic ability of the applicants and their needs.  We think to have four months courses with two weekly lessons of an hour and a half each.
B - Children. Organization of  Italian language courses for young children and boys  whose enrolment at a compulsory school has been required.
In the case of foreign students enrolled at a school when they have no knowledge of the language so that it is not possible their inizial, appreciable inclusion in it, we think it right to organize intensive Italian language courses (full immersion)  five days a week with a group of 4- 6 children for six hours a day,  240 hours in all. At the same time we will get in touch with the teachers of the classes where the boys will be inserted in order to make plans with them as regards the ways of inclusion in the classes,also considering the need of continuing with a language support and the opportunity of intercultural interventions directed to the whole class-group or  other possible initiatives.

Work group Structure
Inside “The house of cultures”, a specific group of research and planning of linguistic activities has sprung up. The group is formed by language teachers and operators with experience in educational, social and intercultural activities. They have experience in the teaching of Italian language to foreigners. They will attend to the menagement of the courses and will be assisted by other operators for all the planning activities additional to the linguistic teaching and to the social and school inclusion.
The group will give particular importance to testing and planning and will promote all the useful ways of exchange and collaboration with schools, associations and local institutions. It will organize training courses and continuous refresher courses for the operators occupied in the activities of linguistic support. In particular, aiming at the school inclusion of the foreign pupils, it will be essential to develop an activ collaboration with the teachers of the schools where the pupils are enrolled.
