The House of Cultures is an idea proposed some months ago by the attendees of a seminar "intercultural learning",organised as part of the project Odysseus 2000 -Personal Identity and Social Integration (Comenius Azione 2 programme).
The idea subsequently was discussed
in various meetings-which involved the Jesi Council,other partners of the
Comenius Project,associations,private groups,and individuals -and it was
formuled under the form of a project by Arci Nuova Associazione of Jesi
and by the Associazione Senza Confini of Ancona.
L'Associazione "Casa delle Culture"
(House of Cultures Society) was officially formed in Jesi on the 29 October
1999 at a meeting with 25 presents.
In this period The House of Cultures has begun to make its first steps; the followin is a brief synthesis of its programme:
The House of Cultures is the place for meeting,exchanges,information and training open to children and all people interested in an activity that unifies and favours the knowledge of different cultures. The "House" is commited in finding a suitable place in Jesi City to organise:
Activities for children (activity laboratories;exchanges between countries,after school classes for language and social difficulties;intercultural activities with the school);
Back up for the workers (educational and project service,Help on Line to assist with emergencies or other situations;training);
Adult activities (Language lessons of Italian for foreigners and foreign languages for Italians;general cultural activities; time bank).
The House of Cultures will be the "net" for people.Societies and institutions involved in these activities,promote collaboration,national and international partnerships,common activities,training and projections support services to ensure cohesion of initiatives and encourage their integration,in respect to the position and autonomy of each subject.
