. Scroggin The stuff that no outdoors person should be without.. Scroggin is basically a mixture of dried fruit and nuts, and is good emergency food if you're more that 1 hour's walk from the nearest bakery or pub.. Here are some of the types of scroggin I have tried out.... Ultra-deluxe (and expensive) scroggin Unsalted mixed nuts, M&M's, dried fruit medley, apricot delight chunks.. Found to be excellent after caving - provided your companions aren't too greedy (you'll probably be left with all the prunes and peanuts, after passing this scroggin around).. When Bec was worried that we were buying too much chocolate I think I nearly died; considering I can easily down a block a day and we were catering at one block between six per day, starvation looked a distinct possibility! Pasta, rice, rolled oats, milk powder, scroggin, chocolate, Vita Wheats, salami and cheese were the order of the day.
