A brief description

Newswire is a new kind of USENet client designed around MacOS X. The main goal of the project is to provide a fast, stable usenet client that include the main MacOS X technologies supports. Newswire will be 100% native application written using Objective-C and Cocoa framework environment. The program will support MacOS X 10.2 or later, but a MacOS X 10.1 compatible version will could released a day.

Project roadmap

At this time I can't provide a stable roadmap session. Hovewer a first "usable" version could be released at the end of september only for subscribed beta testers. The first public release (available on versiontracker and some other similar sites) will be published at the end of november. After the 1.0 milestone the program develop continue with a minor update each month. There will be two major updates/year.

How to become beta testers

If you want to contribuite to the develop of this software, you can sign-up to the beta tester developer program. Send a mail here. You will receive the first copy of Newswire at the end of September 2003. There will be a dedicated forum to this site where you will can talk with the other beta testers and the main newswire programmer. You will receive a free copy license at the end of the btester program, when the final release of Newswire will be shipped.

Cost

At this time I can't make any prevision. However until the first public release the programm will be freeware. After this beta stage the programm could be donationware (as like SafariXtra).
