PIETRO DE SANCTIS (SR.)

Pietro de Sanctis (Pietro Sr., 1794 - 1842) was a Clerical. Fortunately he changed his idea: he let the Church Carreer and became a student in surgery. Then he married Maria Michela Masi (1790 - 1855). He became a Surgeon (Phisical Doctor), with a degree at the University of Naples. He is an ancestor of mine. He had 7 children: 2 died when children, 4 were men of Church: Nicola, Serve of God, Redemptorist Student, who died when he was 16, Don Potito, Redemptorist Father, who was Prior in the Sanctuary of Materdomini, Don Vincenzo Pasquale who was the Archpriest of Castelgrande and Don Alfonso, a Jesuit Father. The other son was Dr. Domenico, my ancestor.

Pietro is my g.-g.-grand-father. His descendants are almost 150 till now.

By studying some old family documents and other papers, and using some researches at the National Archive of Naples done by my uncle Alfonso, I've prepared a Genealogic Tree. The American Branch is from my cousin Peter Masi.

Peter Sr.'s son, Domenico de Sanctis (1824 - 1892) was my great-grand-father. He was a doctor and married Teresa Cudone (from Ruvo del Monte, 1819 - 1889). They had 3 sons, Pietro (Jr., 1852 - 1910), Maria Michela Emmanuela (1854) and Potito (1860 - 1938). Domenico de Sanctis and Teresa Cudone are buried in the Castelgrande Cemetery.
