MY GRAND-FATHER'S FAMILY

My Grand-father was Domenico's 3.rd son, Potito (Castelgrande, 2/6/1860 - 18/10/1938). He studied at Campagna (Salerno, Campania) and at Naples. He got a degree in Law in 1882 at the Naples University. He passed the examination for attorney and notary public. Since 1883 till 1885 he was Officer in the Real Italian Army. He was recalled as a military in the I World War in 1916 as a Captain. He was a lawyer and a Notary Public since 1889 to 1925. He was "The Mayor" of Castelgrande, for 27 years. Assiduous public works promoter, he acted for the growth and the civil, social and economic development of his country. He was nominated Government Component and Vice President of the Commission for Valuations of Lands of Basilicata. His fellow-country-men dedicated to him the square of the old Borough (see the memorial tablet). He was buried in the Castelgrande Cemetery.

He married Maria Teodora De Chiara, daughter of Fedele (S. Menna (Salerno), 1872-1952), homemaker. She is buried in the Castelgrande Cemetery too.

They had 7 sons: Maria, Elena Ada, Olga, Alfonso, Francesco (my father), Irma Gemma, Nilda.
