Nel saggio l'Autore ricostruisce storia e destini di un immenso patrimonio agricolo nel cuore dell'Alta Irpinia, il "Formicoso", situato su un altopiano tra Bisaccia, Vallata, Andretta e Guardia Lombardi. E' qui che durante il viceregno spagnolo si allevavano i cavalli per l'esercito. Come tutte le aree demaniali anche il "Formicoso" fu oggetto d'usurpazioni da parte di feudatari e notabili, fino alle quotizzazioni del Decennio francese.

In the essay the Autore reconstructs history and destiny of a vast agricultural property in the middle of the High Irpinia, the "Formicoso", situated on a table-land between Bisaccia, Vallata, Andretta e Guardia Lombardi. It is here that during the Spanish vicedom they bred horses for the army. As every State property the "Formicoso" toowas object of usurpations from feudal lords and important personages, till the portion law of the French decade.
