getting 3Com / USR Courier modem 3453 to connect with pon: SOLVED
Summary: I needed a new modem to work with my new AMD box since my good modem is I got an external 3Com/USR Courier 3453 off eBay for $49USD and DTR light is on when it tries, but there is a long delay.

general computer problems :: re: adsl ping problem
i was wondering if the isp would be responsible for the fluctuating ping times or whether it might be my 3com modem? my router isnt plugged into the main telephone socket, its pluggd into an extension, could this be the problem?

Redundant entry in serial pci_table
I have this 3Com/US Robotics PCI modem installed on my IBM NetVista system. It has some IRQ conflict I think. It is installed on /dev/ttyS4, and responds fully when I query it using KPPP. The problem is: When I click the "Connect"
