When
I am tired and my mood is very bad, Canta Yeats is the music that helps
me relax, it is my ‘meditating’ music. I lie down on my bed,
preferable alone, far away from other people, put my head phone on, the
best way to let the music go straight into my head and soul and then
just myself float on the sound of the music.
As
soon as the music starts, the guitars, the bird sounds, the sound of
water, I feel I am floating away in a boat on a lake, surrounded by
trees in autumn colours. Far away from everwhere and everybody, this is
the best song to help me relax, to feel free and put my mind completely
to rest. The subtle drum is there, like a heart beat. The peacefull
combination of guitar and drum and Angelo’s voice is the perfect
accompaniment for my trip.
Every
melody is different, the lyrics are different but still they seem to
flow into each other and make it into a overwhelming dream landscape The
wonderful sweet and clear tinkling guitar accompaniment by Maurizio
Fabrizio makes each song into a masterpiece.
The
only song that disturbes my mood, is Violinista di Dooney. I think it
does not belong on this CD. I would rather listen to it at other times.
I made for myself a CD, without this song, so I can go on dreaming .
My
favourites are Quando tu sarai (where I see myself as an old lady
sitting in front of the fire, thinking of my pilgrim soul and all the
good times in my life and all the people I loved), Nel
Giardino dei Salici, Innisfree
and I Cigni di Coole.
And
the total of songs makes it my most loved and most played CD.

I

e Cane Bubù (ispirato a Snoopy).
"the day after": La Madre superiore mi obbligò a recitare
From this
album i was touched suddenly by" Innisfree, L'isola sul
lago". When i was child i used to dream my personal island, a
shelter where to find finally own dimension , far away from the noises
and far away from every kind of obligation that the society
imposes to us. This song totally reflect those my desire, I
remember that, when i was a child I liked to invent some
personages, I designed them and I made some comic strips that I tried
to sell to little school friends of mine. Two of these
personages I named Pappamillo (similar a little to
Donald Duck) and Cane Bubù (inspired to Snoopy). My stories were
all centralized on desire of living in countryside, (perhaps legacy
of my peasant infancy), to construct an house and a proper world.
Moreover, in one of these history i took inspiration from an episode
of my scholastic experiences: an escape from school. I succeeded to
elude the surveillance of the nuns and alone I approached house, that
I caught after an hour of walking, but I did not make myself to
see by my parents, in fact, with my dog, i went in our great orange
groves where I remained until the sunset. And i imagined... I imagined
to have found my world finally " Dove ronzano le api..." and
to dream of making my house "...di argilla e canne".
While
in the civil society they noticed my missing, the chief nun ,
very fearful, sent somebody to call my parents (the
telephone for us was an utopy), they never could imagine that I
was in the house garden, in my Innisfree..:)
So
in few minutes the news of my missing was disseminated
all over my Country of few hundreds of souls, and when, unaware
at all of the chaos that I had caused, I was going candid towards
home, I noticed the surprised enduring look of the people, I had
just the time to ascertain that those had aimed just me that
my mother come and subjected me to public and an exemplary
punishment. :) Not to speak about " the day after ": The
chief nun obligated me to recite 100 "Ave Maria" and
50 "Padre Nostro" for penance.
But let's
return to our Album: an other little masterpiece is, to my
", the guitars of Angelo and Maurizio Fabrizio melts themselves
giving prominence to the voice, moreover the touch of the percussions
of Papete that make all more precious. Another text that I prefer,
also skillfully played is " Nel giardino dei
salici".and here the prominence what Angelo says : it is much
difficult and " dangerous " to put music on
verses for itself already musical, a superimposition is risked,
here instead all it is arranged happily and the nostalgic feeling of
the day that has not been picked and that it does not return anymore
is very represented from those duet of guitars, a little
bit melancholic.
Splendid
the percussions, always by the great Josè De Ribamar Papete in
the tune " Il cappello a sonagli ", beautiful example,
to my opinion, of symbolist poetry: The hat represents the art,
the only instrument for the buffoon (probably ugly and deforme) in
order to conquest the love of the woman. moreover, I agree with
Patrice and Riccardo, I find " Il violinista of Dooney
" a little "outside" from the context of the disc, that
it is nearly nocturnal for its sonority, but It is the other
face of the Ireland, and the Irish. The Irish from the instinctive
rhythm, the Irish that stamp the foot to whichever sound, the
Irishes that the evening forget the problems and go in the Pub
in order to sing, to play and to dance, and ,possibly, to get drunk
with some pint of black Guinness.
And
then we must not forget that Angelo has approached to Yeats (and
therefore composed this album) just thanks to those verses

cose inesprimibili come "branduardi canta yeats"???!!!
Questa
m.l. sta diventando troppo esigente!!! ; - )
Dunque...dunque...dunque...Branduardi
canta Yeats?... Bè...E' un capolavoro...Un'opera d'arte
musicale!!!...Meglio...E' un MIRACOLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Musica e
poesia... Musica con la M maiuscola. Suoni: musicalità della poesia
e Musica poetica. Sinestesia: l'occhio dell'anima vede l'IMMAGINE
attraverso l'ascolto... Vista (immaginaria) e udito.
Forse
Branduardians? Vivere il MISTERO della sua musica!!
Qualcuno
diceva: " Definire è limitare... "
"I
cigni di Coole"è un'alba... Colori rarefatti e aria
L'accetto
senza pormi il problema di capire. Adoro pensare che sia una
canzone/poesia d'amore, un inno all'abbandono completo.
Ero a scuola... Ero ragazza...
motivi. La so suonare. Mi immedesimo completamente. E' malinconica,
quanto me.
"Innisfree,
l'isola sul lago". Avete presente l'alba di cui vi
parlavo all'inizio???
Tutto freme
e si volge verso il crepuscolo. Provate a chiudere gli
occhi..." dove ronzano le api...E là io pace avrò..."
Sil
But
boys? This is not right! But how is it made to find the words
for unexpressible things as "branduardi canta Yeats"
???!!!
This m.l. is becoming too much demanding!!! -)
Therefore...therefore...therefore...Branduardi sings Yeats... Well...It's
a masterpiece...A work of musical art!!!...Better...It's a MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Music and poetry... Music with M, the capital letter. Sounds:
musicality of the poetry and poetic Music. Sinestesy: the eye
of the spirit sees the MAGE through listens... (imaginary) sight and
heard.
I don't hide you that I have found little difficulty to comment the
jobs of Angel...Too much beautiful to find the words! But to
comment this...oh my God...It will remove to me every sin, because
it is an arduous job!
Perhaps is this the daily penance that touch to all us,
faithfuls and devout people Branduardians? Living his music's
MYSTERY!
Someone said: " To define is to limit... "
"I cigni di Coole" is a dawn... Rarefied
colors and fresh, smoky air...A sonorous corridor that introduces to
us in a garden of arpeggios. The arcade of the Yeats poems curves
itselves on our head like a garden of roses...To the end of that we
will see the sky and the immensity that the poetry knows to donate.
And we will find again autumns of our age, too, feeling to us older
but happy...Because we are living! We are swans on this earth but,
beyond the migrations, beyond all, space and time, we will return
spirits of white and we will remain on the lake.
"Il cappello a sonagli" remains for me
the dogma. I accept without ask to me how to understand. I adore to
think that it is one song/poetry of love, a hymn to the complete
abandonment. We do not forget that Yeats was a simbolist poet and
the watertight
language often hides references to his celtic culture that we don't
know. The dream permeates all the track and it is always present in
the triangle and the light percussions that delicately carry the
rhythm to the breath of the flutes, to that echo of magical Ireland.
"La canzone di Angus",infact, is a fable, a
legend... The words embroider on musical tapestry the
history of Angus that found and lost the girl of his dreams,
but he never didn't stop to look for her, sure to find again her
for living fully the days and the nights, forever and ever, with her.
"Il
mantello, la barca e le scarpe" I want to think it
like a dialogue. Like a questions that Yeats child asked his
grandfathers. In the answers there is all the intention that
human wants to hold far away the pain to our loved one, to render it
less hard, of accepting it, alleviating it. It's a typical ballad.
It has to be of an Irish, it has to be arranged by Ours!!!
Do you never have seen the film " Lessons of Piano"?
There's a scene in which the child dances on the sand, careless of
the wind.. Eternal image, I said... "A una bambina che
danza nel vento"is a beautifulst poetry that I read
many years ago. And already I liked it... I study it to school... I
was girl... But, young branduardiana, I had still not felt the song
of Angelo. When I have found again this poem in musical key I was
upset.
"Il violinista di Dooney" I have danced
thousand times, like a reel, in my room but also during a
concert-tribute to Branduardi, in
a irish-pub in Italy, during a saint Pastrick's day (I have a friend
who has turned for premises with a show called"io canto
branduardi" in which he played only Angelo's musics and we were
danced like the crazy ones).
"Quando tu sarai..." is my song...For
a series of reasons. I know to play it. I found my self completely.
It's melancholic just like me. Once one said to me that I had an
intense look, luminous but with deep shadows too. Because I'm made
so...Red and black..." When you are..." is my song.
It's the song of a lost love.
"Un aviatore irlandese..." is like a run
towards an omen. And this can be understood for the
running-after-itself of the guitars , the fingers slips on the keys,
slips on the melodia that ends suspended...
"Nel giardino dei salici", even if all
the disc is played with two guitars, this is the ideal song to be
played and to be sang in two. Four hands and two voices, for an only
one, romantic thought. The love that is passed gives next to us but
that we haven't known to pick,
because we were young and stupid. Because it still was not
understood that the Love makes the world around and it's the best
thing that a man can live.
Innisfree, l'isola sul lago". Do You remember
the dawn which I talked you about, to the beginning? The
introduction to music and to poetry? Well...Here we are to the
sunset...The day is ending. Everything trembles and it is
turned towards the twilight. Try to close your eyes..."where
the bees ing...And here I peace will have...". "Dove
