Music

Versione Italiana

Eventually I ended my translation work (on this page).
Hope my English will be at least understandable... and I'll be very grateful to those kind peoples who'll help me correcting errors.

I am fond of music listening, and I am a beginner pianist.
I like many kinds of music, but from time to time I concentrated my attention on a single genre.
In the following I list in open order my preferences subdivided on the basis of the commonly agreed categories, even though often it doesn't make sense, because every artist is a single soul with his own identity (and, to go to the extreme, every single work has its own unclassifiable identity).
Therefore, the subdivision of the artists in the categories reflects only my personal point of view about them.

Jazz/Fusion Classical N.C.
World music Instrumental Progressive Rock Rock
New Age Electronical New wave
Ambient Minimal '80s Pop

Who's interested may view my list of CDs, records, cassettes etc. (updated January 5, 1998).

I'll spend some word about music listening.
Some people listen to music while they are doing some activities, that is driving, studying, or working. Some other like background music in their spare time, with the intent to occupy the ambient with vibrations or to foster sociality.
In some other's opinion, to listen to music means to sit down in an easy-chair, turn on the HI-FI, choose a record according to the mood in which they are, and listen to it from the beginning to the end without doing anything else.
I am like the last ones. In my opinion, the musical experience is complete on its own, and it's worth to be lived independently. When music is in the air, I absorb all the feelings rising from it, those feelings similar to nothing else.

Some people found an interesting way to listen and to interpretate some kinds of "cultural" music: they associate the musical moments to events in an imaginary tale, built up while they are listening. This is a nice pasttime but IT ISN'T listening to music. Music may rise emotions, but in its purest sense music IS an emotion, so big to not to need analogies nor similitudes.

Despite all this, I'll contradict my assumption trying to describe what I feel when I listen to those various music genres.
