The Imperial Calendar and the Time Precepts

Years last 360 days, and are divided in ten months of 27 days each and one of 90 days. A new year begins when this longer one ends. The succession is:

  1. Month of the Lovers (27 days)
  2. Month of the Woodsmen (27 days)
  3. Month of the Scholars (27 days)
  4. Month of the Travellers (27 days)
  5. Month of the Healers (27 days)
  6. Month of the Judges (27 days)
  7. Month of the Artists (27 days)
  8. Month of the Warriors (27 days)
  9. Month of the Orchards (27 days)
  10. Month of Reapers (27 days)
  11. Month of the Dragons (90 days)

The present campaign begins on the 20th of the Scholar. This calendar, based on the Equinox Cycle, is used universally throughout both the former Empire, Zender and the Northern Realms. Methods used once by the Gumrach ("Nergal's Wheel") and by Dargavs (based on the periodic appearance of the Horse Constellation) are no longer used; as a note, subterranean races, such as dwarves, do not traditionally account for time, and find doing so terribly difficult (that is probably why they say "magic is not dwarves' trade"). Each month is said to be favourable for a certain activity, and the belief is generally accepted, for some mighty evidence supports it (fruit grows mainly in the month of the Orchards and so forth). The month of the Dragons is considered ill for everything, especially for travelling; the fact it is the coldest period of the year has probably some relation to it; although, it is said that the power of evil creatures grows in this period and that facing them, even if the cold doesn't affect the fool attempting it, would be suicidal.
