DAVID MARIA MARANI was born in Ventimiglia in 1960. 

From 1971 to 1973 he attended the courses held by the sculptor Elio Melis. He then faced the study of drawing with the painters GIUSEPPE BALBO E MADDALENA SALVATICO.

He frequented the State Art Institute of Porta Romana, near Florence, where he graduated in 1979, attending sculpture courses held by Enzo and Bruno Innocenti, Marcello Guasti, Andrea Fedeli, Giovanni Hubbard, Manuela Ciabilli Paoletti, Leone Martelli, Guarguaglini and Sisto Zanetti. Always in Florence, from 1979 to 1981, he frequented the Accademy of Fine Arts, guided by the sculptor OSCAR GALLO 

His creative journey runs along a privileged line: the representation of the human figure. Marani, who is a figurative artist, untangles his artistic journey starting from the Greek classicism, that was reproduced in the Academy's classrooms, the Michelangelsque plasticity and, more generally, the classicism on a solid academy formation, which engraft the suggestions and the moods which derive from the contemporary world and from the solicitations of an art in continuous evolution. 

He has organised annual collective exhibitions respectively denominated: “AGORA' ” , “DOLCEART”, “IMPRONTE”, “MAESTRI CONTEMPORANEI NELL’ARTE”, “LE GESTE POSITIF”, “ARTE IN CENTRO”, "Scultori in Corso", "Le geste Positiv"  for Ligurian and Tuscan and French City Administrations.

He is the author of the Art Guide of the Province of Imperia. He restores munuments and sculptures, also in collaboration with the Florentine restorer ANDREA FEDELI

He has exposed in over eighty exhibitions in European and American cities, among which New York, Cuernevaca, Amsterdam, Munich, Berlin, Athens, Belgrade, Budapest, Copenhagen, Monte-Carlo, Nice, and Florence,where in 1995, he has been invited to expose his works in the Saint Lorenzo Cathedral, with artists of great intelligence, such as Marcello Guasti, Salvatore Cipolla, Silvio Loffredo, Marcello Tommasi, Ademaro Bardelli, Piero Tredici, Bruno Paoli and Roberto Greco.

In that same year, one of his sculptures has been chosen to be donated to the director MARIO MONICELLI, as an award to his career, during a great multi-medial manifestation organised by the City of Viareggio.

The end of the Millennium arrives with the title of "FEMME" at the Lucertola Castle in Apricale (Imperia - Italy), where for two months Marani will expose, together with over fifty artists of international level, such as FOLON, SOSNO, emanuele LUZZATI, ANDY WAHROL, ARMAN, Cini and many others. 

Marani's works belong to important private collections in Italy and in other foreign countries.

1960 in Ventimiglia-Italien geboren. 1973 nimmt er an Keramik - und Dekorationskursen teil und 1974 schreibt er sich am staatlichen Kunstinstitut in Florenz ein, wo er sein Diplom fucr Bildhauerei erwirbt (3-jaeluiger Kurs und Hochschule). Seine erste persoenìiche Ausstellung gcht auf 1979 zurueek, und seit jenem Zeitpunkt hat er in verschiedenen curopaeischen und arnerikanischen Staedten ausgestellt. Figuerlicher Bildhaucr mit solider klassischer Grundlage; er hat eine natuerliche Tendenz, "die Figur" als zentrales Komunikations-element zwischen Schoepfer und Betrachter darzustellen. - Eine Art neuer abstrakter, figuerlicher Kunst; eine cinfache Art und Weise, um nicht nur diejenigen anzusprechen, die zwischen den Zeilen die Konturen einer Kunst erkennen koennen, die von einigen Kritikern als vielfaeltige Realitaet der Bildhauerei definiert wird. Marani, imrnerwaehrend sensibel gegenueber sozialen Evolutionen, hat seine Kunsterfahrung durch verschiedenartige Darstellungen differenziert: Happening, Performance und Experimente mit elektronischer Musik haben einige Jabre seiner Kunstkarriere gezeichnet, um ihn dann auf den Weg der Wiedererlangung der vererbten Fessel zu fuehren, die aus der Bildhauerci eine der aeltesten Kuenste der Welt rnacht. Der Gebrauch von feuerfestern Ton, Gips, Bronze und Zernent beweist, wie bestaendig und pulsierend die Bindung mit der Welt der fiorentinischen Handwerkstradition ist; eine Welt in der Marani mit beiden Haenden geschaffen hat. Ein Milieu, in dem der Biìdhauer aufgewachsen ist und definitiv die Wende des Geschmacks und dessen ausdrucksvoller Form aufgezeigt hat. Seine Werke sind in oeffentlichen und privaten Sammlungen ausgestellt.

Nace a Ventimiglia, en Italia, en el 1960. Sigue en el 1971 al 1973 cursos de ceràmica y decoratiòn, se eseribe en el 1974 al Instituto Estatal del Arte de Florencia, y ahì se diploma en el curso de escultura ( Triennio e Magistero ). Su primera exposiciòn personal fue en el 1979, desde entonces el ha exponido eri varias ciudades de Europa y America. F-scultor figurativo con solidas bases classicas, el tiene una natural tendencia a vivir "la Figura" corno base portante de la relatiòn de comunicaciòn entre quien que crea y quien que mira, una especie de nuevo "abstractismo figurativo", una manera simple por alcanzar todos los que quieron veer y los que saben comprender aùn los perfiles de un arte definida de algunos ffiticos "Una esculwm con realidades mùltiplas" . Constantemente sensible a las evoluciones sociales, Marani ha abigarrado su experiencia artistica con implicaciones a varios nivelos : happening, perfomance y experimentaciones con la mùsica electronica han senado algunos anos de su recorrido artìstico para reconducirlo después a el recupero de ese vinculo lejano que hace de la escultura una de las màs antiguas artes eri el mundo. El empleo de materiales corno la arcilla refractaria, yeso, bronce, cemento, mostran como la union con el mundo de la tradiciòn florenciana sea fuerte y pulsante, un mundo donde Marani ha cogido con todo se mismo, un ambiente donde lo escultor ha crecido y que ha marcado definitivamente la vuelta del gusto y de su forma espressiva. Sus operas son esponidas eri collectiones pùblicas y privadas.

Il est né en 1960 eri Italie, à Vintimille. En 1971-73 il a fréquenté des cours de céramique et de décoration et s'est inscrit en 1974 à l'Ecole d'Etat de beaux arts de Florence, où il s'est diplomé au cours de sculptures (Triennio et Magistero). Sa première exposition individuale remonte à 1979: depuis lors il a exposé ses oeuvres dans plusieurs villes européennes et américaines. Sculpteur figuratif avee de solides bases classiques, il a un penchant naturel à vivre "la figure" en tant qu'élément portant du rapport de communication entre le créateur et l'observateur; une sorte de nouvel abstraetionnisme figuratif, une facon simple pour atteindre tous ceux qui veulent voir et ceux qui savent lire outre mesure entre les lignes les contours d'un art appelé par quelques critiques "... Une sculpture à réalités multiples... Constamment sensible aux évolutions sociales, Marani a diversifié son expérience artistique à différents niveaux : Happenings, Performances, et expérimentations avee la musique électronique ont souligné quelques années de son parcours artistique, et l'ont enfin ramené à récuperer son lien ancestral qui fait de la sculpture un des arts les plus anciens du monde. L'emploi de matériaux comme l'argile réfractaire, le platre, le bronze, le ciment, prouvent que son lien avec le monde de la tradition artisanale et artistique fiorentine est solide et vibrant, un monde où Marani a puisé à pleines mains, un milieu où le sculpteur a grandi et qui a definitivement inarqué le tournant de son gout et de sa forme espressive. Ses oeuvres sont exposées dans de collections publiques et privées.
